A series of walks, talk and creative workshops

This spring and summer we have opportunities for you to connect with local wildlife and get creative. From nature writing and photography to wildflower pressing and collage making. Work with experienced naturalists and artists to then showcase your work at our collective exhibition in July.

Nature Writing Workshop & Wildlife Walk - April 19th, 10.00-12.30

Book here

Join Amanda Tuke to write creatively about urban nature in either prose or poetry. Inspired by a short urban nature walk with Amanda and Creekside's own Nick Bertrand, we'll be writing on the theme of the workshop "Everywhere we look - noticing urban nature". The workshop will be relaxed and supportive and no previous creative writing experience is needed. Bring a notepad and pen/pencil and/or a smartphone with a note-taking or audio-recording apps.

Amanda Tuke is a nature writer, botanist and birder based in south London. She writes a monthly column for Bird Watching Magazine and has written for the RSPB, BBC Countryfile and Resurgence & Ecologist magazines. Amanda is an associate lecturer in creative nature writing at Bath Spa University.

Discover Your Wilderhood & Wildflower Pressing - May 24th, 18.00-20.00

Join us on the hunt for wildlife in the wilderhood of Creekside. Even in hard urban environments like streets, footways, walls, and the small fragments of habitat adjacent to them, wildlife makes a living.

We will be hunting for wildflowers on the streets around Creekside then coming back to Creekside Discovery Centre and learning how and why we preserve plant specimens for a herbarium.

Invertebrates Hunt & Collage Making - June TBC, 10.00-13.00

Join Richard "Bugman" Jones and  for an invertebrate hunt at Creekside Discovery Centre. Follow this with creating amazing collages with Marian Hill (www.marianhill.co.uk) inspired by the real invertebrates that you find.
