Herbaria have been used since the 18th century to record and study plants.  The expertise gained in preserving plants in this way is important both for taxonomy and conservation.  'Conservation depends on recording, which depends on correct identification, which may in turn depend on collecting' (A Chater, Fieldwork for Atlas 2020)

We will be hunting for wildflowers on the streets around Creekside then coming back to Creekside Discovery Centre and learning how and why we preserve plant specimens for a herbarium

Meeting Point - Creekside Discovery Centre

To ensure this activity is accessible to all it is free to join. If you can afford to make an additional donation with your ticket booking please do so. All funds go towards our education and conservation activities.

This session is part of our "Conservation in the Urban Jungle" series of walks, talk and creative workshops. Find out more here.
