Slimewatch algae investigation! Join algae enthusiast and artist Susi to explore the microscopic world of algae!

In this special family event we will take a closer look at the green worlds growing in Deptford Creek. Make the most of the long summer evenings to join us for a special wade down in Deptford Creek. There will be lots of fun facts and stories for young people about all the living things in this unique habitat, and their connections with the green slime all around us!

This event will involve:

  • A short walk in Deptford Creek focusing on the mud banks and algae
  • Collecting and preparing algae sample from the Creek
  • Analysing these samples under the microscope
  • Observe and study previous samples and follow our research to date
  • Make algae and mud art, using mud from the river
  • Model your own algae to take home with you using clay

Suitable for - everyone aged 8+, all young people must be accompanied by an adult

We will provide all resources and equipment.
