Saturday 8th June,  10:00 - 13:00

Come and join us as we explore the world of Deptford Creek algae!

During the morning we will be exploring the Creek at the edge of our site to take samples of the mud surface and then studying them under high powered microscopes.

We expect to find a variety of algae and other organisms which we will record as part of our growing data bank. We'll be considering questions such as:

  • how do these communities relate to the colour of the mud?
  • what do we know and think about how these communities may change thoughout the day and through different seasons?
  • how does this new awareness of algae make you feel about it?

Spend the morning exploring the mudbanks of the Creek and helping with valuable research into the communities of organisms that live there. As well, we'll also be hosting a craft activity to help participants express their creativity inspired by what you've explored and studied.

Due to the nature of the activities and equipment places are limited, so book your free tickets now to join what will be a fascinating morning!

The Slimewatch project is a Creekside collaboration with filmmaker Susi Arnot who started Slimewatch at Saint Saviours Dock in 2021.
