Creekside offers a unique opportunity to complete GCSE Geography fieldwork in a tidal creek, and to complete a GCSE Biology mandatory practical activity in a wildflower rich nature park.
Sessions are designed to meet key curriculum points and are delivered by expert outdoor learning deliverers with secondary teaching experience.
Our secondary schools programmes enable students to explore, make discoveries, propose hypotheses, carry out investigations and draw conclusions all whilst engaged in an exciting outdoor activity.
- Visits take place between 10.00am – 2.45pm
- Class size of up to 30 pupils
- Sessions cost £395 for a full day
- Half day sessions available when x2 classes are run back to back: £395
- Discounts available for schools with 15% of pupils receiving Pupil Premium funding

GCSE Geography Fieldwork
Carry out a fieldwork study in a unique urban habitat with tidal creek
- Learners explore the relationship between the river velocity and the width of the channel at low tide in Deptford Creek
- Learners will be guided through hypothesis selection, use of secondary data, sampling methods and equipment selection prior to the fieldwork task
- They will then embark on a low tide walk in Deptford Creek where they will collect their primary data
- Learners will then begin their data analysis with opportunity for questions, discussion and reflection on the fieldwork processes.
GCSE Biology Ecological Sampling
Hands on ecological sampling in a real time environment
- Learners are introduced to key ecological terms and have an opportunity to explore populations, communities, abiotic and biotic factors in our ecosystem
- Fieldwork data collection takes place in a nearby nature park using specialist equipment and identification and recording sheets, all of which are provided
- Species identification is guided by our expert learning deliverers who help students to recognise, identify and appreciate the many species of wildflowers that are present on our site and nature park
- Learners are then guided through the interpretation and analysis of the data they have collected
