Annual Wildflower Hunt on the first day of winter - Friday 1st December 2023
Friday 1st December 2023, 10:30am - dusk
Join us on our traditional hunt for wildflowers in flower on the first day of winter. We’ve been doing it since 2009. Last year we found 85 species of wildflower still in flower. How many will we find this year?
Meet at Deptford Station, the oldest surviving railway station in London, at 10.30 am.
From there we shall head out into the wilds of Deptford looking for truly wild wildflowers. What will we find this year? We will stop at approximately 1pm for lunch at Cafe Bianca, 65 Deptford High Street. After lunch we will continue our floristic foray ending up at Creekside Discovery Centre where there will be tea and mince pies.
We will be joined by members of the London Natural History Society.
If you are unable to do the whole walk you can join us after for a Winter Warmer with crafting and marshmallows by the fire. The Centre will be open and we will be here to welcome you from 15.30 to 17.30.
