Education for Outreach sessions - Primary

New for 2026/27 - We'll bring Creekside to you! 

We've spent the past 3 academic years developing curriculum linked, engaging, and exciting outreach sessions. These sessions aim to bring science, geography and history to life in your classroom, school grounds, or local green space. 

  • Outreach sessions are 90 minutes long, but we like to schedule 100-120 mins to allow some contigency
  • Timings are flexible, and can be scheduled to fit your school timetable
  • Class size of up to 30 pupils per session - we are happy to facilitate multiple sessions per day if possible
  • Prices are stated in session outlines below

Programmes available:


KS2 Water Cycle Outreach 🏫

Build on your water cycle knowledge with an engaging exploration of human impact – both positive and negative – on the water around us

This session includes the following activities:

  • An introduction and recap of the basic water cycle
  • A guided interactive Water Cycle Game activity – this card game is a bespoke Creekside creation! Students will play in teams as characters in the water cycle, modelling the flow of water and encountering ‘event cards’ that disrupt that flow
  • A movement break – Water Cycle Tai Chi!
  • Creekside animals and plants matching activity – connect the animals and plants with their habitats and learn about their lives
  • Call to action – we will leave you with a series of printed worksheet activities to continue your learning in the classroom

Our special introductory price for 26/27 is £3 per student

Some further information about this session:

  • It is facilitated entirely in your school classroom
  • This session is available all year round, depending on staff availability – our preferred facilitation days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Some prior knowledge of the water cycle is essential
  • In trials this session has worked as both a stand-alone, and as a precursor to a visit to Creekside for our KS2 River at Low Tide session
  • We have successfully facilitated this session for Y3, Y4, and Y5

KS2 Local History Outreach – A Victorian Summer Treat 🏫

Learn about the Deptford Ragged School and engage with nature and history like never before!

Each summer students of the Deptford Ragged School would be rewarded for their attendance with a trip to the countryside, to spend the day surrounded by nature - their Summer Treat. This session is based on real archive evidence, and all of the activities are mentioned in the documents. We aim to bring these countryside adventures to life once more right here in the heart of Deptford!

This session includes the following activities:

  • An interactive guided story introduction, immersing learners in lives of the past
  • A Forest Walk! Explore the wildlife around us
  • Games! Play Hopscotch and Quiots just like old times
  • Tea time! We’ll break for a snack of jam sandwiches and fruit (all provided in the cost), and appreciate how much more varied our diets are nowadays
  • Photos and smells! We’ll share some archive images and some recreated smells to highlight what life was like in Deptford in the 19th and 20th centuries
  • Flower Bouquets! We’ll carefully collect little snippets from our environment to create a bouquet of nature as a group
  • Races! We’ll team up to finish with a race just like they did in the past!

Some further information about this session:

  • It is facilitated entirely outdoors at Sue Godfrey Nature Park
  • This session is best in the summer term, but we are open to facilitating it year round if that aligns with school teaching topics
  • Our preferred facilitation months are Sept-Oct and Mar-July, and our preferred facilitation days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • It may be possible to facilitate it on your school site, if the appropriate space exists – please get in touch to discuss
  • All materials and resources are provided by us, students do not need to bring anything
  • Some prior learning on the Victorian Era is very useful
  • We have facilitated this session successfully for Y4 and Y5. It is suitable for all KS2 ages, and it is possible to differentiate for KS, please enquire if you’re interested
