June 23rd, 12:00 - 14:30

Want to learn more about the aquatic life that calls Deptford Creek home? Then join us on our fish survey!

This session will be using sampling methods and techniques shown to us by Tanya Ferry, who has worked on the Tidal Thames for the EA fisheries team and also runs a small not for profit surveying the Medway for juvenile fish.

This survey is part of a larger project looking at all wildlife that uses the Creek including fish, birds, invertebrates, plants and even algae. The data will then be used to show habitat quality and inform future habitat management.

Spaces are limited so book early and please let us know if you can't attend.

What to expect:

- the survey will last about 2.5 hours and is led by an experienced fish surveyor and conservationist

- we will be surveying on a sloping tidal foreshore in waders (provided) - yes, you'll be in the river!

- whilst helping surveying, you'll also be learning about the species we find in the river

- nature of the activities during the session mean we're inviting adults and children (10+)

What to bring?

- warm clothing, particularly trousers and socks

- a change of clothing (especially for children)
