Volunteering by Richard Sudlow - April 2007

Hello, my name is Richard Sudlow. I am a student at Hadlow College studying for a degree in Animal Conservation. The course is divided into various subjects such as Husbandry - where we learn about different types of wild and domestic animals and how to house and care for them. Principles of Conservation – looking at different techniques used in conserving different habitats, how to trap & release animals if needed.

As part of my course I am working as a volunteer at the Creekside Centre. At the centre I do a variety of things such as clear areas of invasive plants like Bindweed and Buddleja. Clearing gravel so things can be planted is one of the ongoing jobs. I have helped out with some of the computer work in the office, developing a calendar and putting booking information into spreadsheets. I have also been finding out about the creek and helping with low-tide creek walks.

If you would like to volunteer at Creekside please call Nick on 020 8692 9922.
